Chapati

A versatile and beloved unleavened flatbread, chapati (also spelled chapathi) is a staple in the Indian subcontinent. Known by various names such as roti, rooti, rotee, rotli, and phulka, chapati is made from whole-wheat flour (atta) mixed into dough with water, oil (optional), and salt (optional). The dough is then cooked on a tava (flat skillet) until it puffs up and develops golden-brown spots.
